About AZ Law Now

The Newsroom Behind the Firm

We do the work before the case.

Three named editors. Three beats. One case file. The bylines you read on this site are the same people working your case.

The Editors

Three voices, three beats, one case file.

Every client gets the same team. Not a rotating cast of associates. Not a paralegal juggling 200 files. The three people who publish under our masthead are the three people on your case from day one.

Brendan Franks

Editor-in-Chief

Arizona public safety, crash data, records-driven reporting.

Brendan Franks leads editorial operations at AZ Law Now. Not an attorney. He covers Arizona injury data, public safety reporting, and community accountability stories, drawing on years in local media covering municipal government and public records across Maricopa County. His investigations anchor the data journalism voice of the site.

Legal Editor

Legal guides reviewed line-by-line before publication.

Ron DeBrigida is the legal editor at AZ Law Now and a licensed Arizona trial attorney. He reviews every legal guide on the site against current Arizona statute and case law before it publishes, drawing on three decades in the courtroom that began in narcotics prosecution and grew into criminal defense and litigation. He runs DeBrigida Law Offices in Glendale and joined the AZ Law Now team to make sure every legal claim reads the way the statute actually does.

Client Resources Editor & Paralegal

Plain-English walkthroughs for the people going through it.

Stephanie Ramirez is a paralegal at AZ Law Now, responsible for client-facing resources and case support. She writes the guides that walk families through the process after an injury: what to expect, what paperwork matters, how timelines work, and when to ask questions. Stephanie grew up in Arizona and understands that most families going through this are doing it for the first time.
