I opened our Maricopa office in March 2026 because the data told me to. SR-347, also called John Wayne Parkway, logged 967 crashes over five years. It's a two-lane highway carrying commuter traffic at volumes it was designed to handle as a rural road. The 4th most dangerous signalized intersection in the state sits on this corridor.
Every morning, thousands of Maricopa residents get on SR-347 heading north to the I-10 interchange. They share the road with commercial trucks, agricultural vehicles, and drivers who treat a 55-mph two-lane road like a freeway. By the time they hit the I-10 interchange, the merge geometry creates compression. Speed differentials turn into crashes.
The SR-347 Corridor: The Data
I published a full investigation on the SR-347 crash corridor. The numbers: 967 crashes over five years. Multiple fatalities at the SR-347 and I-10 interchange. Speed, limited sight lines, and a road geometry that mixes commuter traffic with commercial vehicles at volumes the infrastructure can't support.
ADOT has studied the corridor. Improvements have been recommended. As of April 2026, the road still looks the same as it did when the crashes happened.
Pinal County Jurisdiction
Here's something most people don't know until they need a lawyer. The City of Maricopa is in Pinal County, not Maricopa County. That matters. Injury claims filed in court go through Pinal County Superior Court in Florence. Different courthouse, different judges, different filing procedures, different timelines.
Our litigation team files in both Pinal County and Maricopa County courts. We know the differences. If your crash happened on SR-347 or within Maricopa city limits, the case goes to Florence. If it happened on I-10 north of the interchange, it may fall under Maricopa County jurisdiction. We sort that out in the first consultation.
A City That Outgrew Its Roads
Maricopa's population crossed 85,000. Up 45 percent since 2020. Growing at 6.7 percent annually. The Provinces, Rancho El Dorado, and Cobblestone Farms have added thousands of homes. Each home generates eight to ten vehicle trips per day. Most touch SR-347.
The road hasn't changed. Two lanes north, two lanes south. The same configuration it had when Maricopa had 20,000 residents. The growth pattern is identical to what's happening in Buckeye. The crash trajectory follows the same curve.
Truck Traffic at the I-10 Interchange
The SR-347 and I-10 interchange handles commercial truck traffic moving between the Phoenix metro and points south. The truck crash data investigation shows I-10 carries roughly 48% truck traffic through the West Valley. The interchange geometry at SR-347 creates merge conflicts between trucks entering I-10 and commuters accelerating to highway speed.
We handle truck crash cases and pull FMCSA carrier records on every one. The chameleon carriers investigation explains why a carrier's clean DOT number might hide a history of violations under a previous company name.
