What it means

A common law rule that prevents defendants from reducing damages by the amount of money the plaintiff received from independent sources (insurance, government benefits, etc.).

Arizona retains the collateral source rule with some limitations. Generally, evidence of insurance payments or other collateral sources is not admissible to reduce damages.
