Contingency Fee

What it means

An attorney fee arrangement where the lawyer gets paid only if the client recovers money. The fee is a percentage of the recovery, typically 33-40% in personal injury cases.

Arizona context

Arizona allows contingency fees in personal injury cases. The standard rate is 33.3% of pre-litigation settlements and 40% if the case goes into litigation. The agreement must be in writing.
